Texts and Contexts: The Phenomenon of Boundaries

April 27-28, 2017

Vilnius University Kaunas Faculty of Humanities
Muitinės Str. 8,
Kaunas, Latvia
The importance of boundaries in texts and contexts is now generally recognized, and the Conference offers an opportunity to present and learn about research findings concerning fuzziness of boundaries in different types of human communication, and their cognitive, cultural, narrative, poetic, rhetorical, social, textual and discourse functions. Contributions to the general session of the Conference can address the linguistic and/ or literary character and the use of various types of formal linguistic and poetic constructions, as well as the nature of figurative signs and devices in multi-modal or non-verbal communication within public and/ or literary discourse.
Our Conference accepts papers in a wide range of topics from many different fields of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Some of the major fields are:
– boundaries within culture;
– dialogs between literature and other art genres;
– rhetoric and communication transformations;
– new media language;
– boundaries between contemporary language and social dialects;
– textual multimodality;
– genre boundaries and margins;
– translation transformations;
– advertising and media.
